About the Department
The MCA department offers a postgraduate degree program, namely the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with intake of 60 students per year. This program is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in various aspects of computer science and application development. The MCA curriculum typically includes a mix of theoretical and practical courses. Students study subjects such as programming languages, data structures, database management, software engineering, algorithms, computer networks, web development, and more.
Academic Resources
The department is staffed with experienced faculty members who have expertise in various areas of computer science. They play a crucial role in imparting knowledge, guiding research projects, and mentoring students.
MCA departments also engage in research activities, often in collaboration with industry partners or other academic institutions. Faculty and students are conducting research in areas such as Embedded System and Internet of Things (IOT), Machine Learning (ML), Computer vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Software Engineering.
Students are facilitated with Personality Development Program, Communication Classes for better placements. Competitive exams, quizzes and other co-curricular activities are the part of schedule. Sports, Co-curricular and extracurricular activities takes place at Institute level and students participate in various Intra-College, Inter-College, Inter-University fests/competitions.
Course Structure
Master of Computer Application (MCA) course is a 2 years Master Degree Programme, Approved by AICTE and Affiliated to MAKAUT, WB. Graduates of MCA programs have a wide range of career opportunities. They can work as software developers, system analysts, database administrators, project managers, IT consultants, and more. Many also pursue research or teaching roles in academia.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates with the following eligibility can take admission in the 2-year MCA program approved by AICTE.**
- Students who have passed Bachelor of Computer Application or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent degree
- Students who have passed Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Arts with mathematics at 10+2 or at the graduation level with additional bridge courses as per the norms of the concerned university
- Candidates must have obtained at least 50 percent marks, or 45 percent marks in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories, in the qualifying examination
