About the Department
DIATM started its journey in the year 2002. The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities of DIATM can easily be called the SHAPERS. The Department comprises the Sections of Chemistry, English, Economics, Management, Mathematics, and Physics. Equipped with state of the art Laboratories, knowledgeable, caring Faculty Members, and diligent, sincere Technical Assistants, put all possible efforts to build up the solid base for students which make them able to receive core engineering skills later on. Distinguished academicians and persons with long exposure to industries frequently visit the Department to deliver lectures and interact with our students. Seminars, both inter and intra Departmental are organised periodically to stimulate their inquisitiveness and whet their appetite for knowledge. Veterans among the faculty members guide M.Tech and PhD project for the betterment of their junior colleagues. Our faculty members have several research publications to their credit. Some of them have even authored textbook for B.Tech and M.Tech students.

Dr. Pameli Ghosh is Head of the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities Department . Dr. Ghosh is deeply involved in academic research and continuously strives to stay updated with the latest developments in the field of chemistry. She encourages students to think critically, ask questions, and explore innovative ideas, thereby fostering a strong scientific temperament . Dr. Ghosh’s dedication, patience, and passion for teaching make her a respected educator among her peers and students. Her contributions to both academics and research significantly enhance the learning environment of the institution, making her an invaluable asset to the academic community. The rigorous classes of physics, chemistry and mathematics and related practical experiments helped them to fill-up the gap between their school and undergraduate level of education. In the same footing the regular soft-skill classes offered by highly skilled humanities faculty members helped them to improve their communication skills and personality as well .
The Department is also concerned about the students’ value education and organises periodic motivational seminars involving Hon’ble Swamijis from Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama .
